Very slow paced, made it sometimes hard to read。 The plot was going in circles due to this one questions and the ongoing debates on which they couldn’t find a solution to until the very end。Seemed like 300-ish pages of arguing about the same topic。

This book leaves off such a cliffhanger that I have to read the next one, not only is the writing format great, but the book as a whole, all the emotional sides of characters, love, power and just the Darkness Within。😁

It moved along really slow and was pretty repetitive。 The ending was kind of expected but I can't wait to see what happens in the next book! It moved along really slow and was pretty repetitive。 The ending was kind of expected but I can't wait to see what happens in the next book! 。。。more

Maybe 2。5 starsThere were some moments in this that I thought were a little dumb and this one really made me question if I'm even going to read any more Warriors books after this series。 I do plan to read the next two books。 I feel like I've come too far to bow out now, but afterward, once I'm officially caught up on all the modern warriors books (I haven't read Dawn of the Clans, nor do I plan to), I don't know if I'll continue, especially since I'll have to wait for each and every release。 I w Maybe 2。5 starsThere were some moments in this that I thought were a little dumb and this one really made me question if I'm even going to read any more Warriors books after this series。 I do plan to read the next two books。 I feel like I've come too far to bow out now, but afterward, once I'm officially caught up on all the modern warriors books (I haven't read Dawn of the Clans, nor do I plan to), I don't know if I'll continue, especially since I'll have to wait for each and every release。 I was a little annoyed with how Shadowsight was treated in this book by his clanmates。 I mean, I get that he is getting blamed for "killing" Bramblestar, but it felt kind of like no one could think of a better arc for him in this book, especially since he doesn't really do anything aside from brood about this clan not trusting him。 I do think (view spoiler)[Ashfur taking Squirrelflight into the moonpool was interesting (hide spoiler)] and am curious to see how that plays out。 It was also interesting to see (view spoiler)[Ashfur show Shadowsight that he has the spirits of other cats trapped in his body somehow (hide spoiler)], but other than those couple of things, there wasn't a whole lot to this book in general, let alone things that I enjoyed。This book was bad, per se, but it's certainly near the bottom of the list of best to worst warriors books for me。 。。。more

I didn't recall you being this harsh and unforgiving。 What the heck happened to you? And Puddleshine, I THOUGHT I could trust you to be wise and supportive。 Guess I was wrong all along。I was relieved to see Tigerstar being a good leader still (we seriously need some cats with their wits in this book)。 However, while he was mainly making the right decision as a leader, his command put Shadowsight in an awkward position。 I know that in real life, people don't usually get praises for doing their job, but Shadowsight is just a cute little medicine cat, how could you hurt him like this?Shadowsight aside, I really enjoyed reading Rootspring's and Bristlefrost's chapters, especially Rootspring's。He has grown into a great cat。 I am soooooo proud of him。 He is wise, reasonable, reliable, responsible, strong, determined, and open-minded。 Tree must be so proud that his son has become such a great cat。And I like the trip they had! It took me back to the time when their used to be a lot of travelling and adventures in the story。 I miss those times。The Sister are also very interesting。 Though I kind of find their ability too convenient, but since this is a middle-grade book, I will let it go。 I guess the main reasons why I can't love this book are as follows:1) I love Shadowsight too much。2) Some plots were still kind of dragging。 A lot of words and worries, but nothing really happened or changed。3) Cats I used to know not acting like themselves in this book for the sake of making a point clear or stirring up conflicts。4) I wish the Clans could all be more rational and reasonable。 It's wishful thinking I know, but they really needn't be so stubborn and jumping to conclusion like they have no brain。 I could hardly see trust between clanmates and it hurt。 I almost want to flee from the Clans just to be free。I would probably continue reading the next book。。。but regarding the ending in this one, I am very sure things wouldn't get any better in the next one, so。。。。。。。 Let's all go to hell together。 。。。more

okay, this took me FOREVER to get through because i listen to it through an audio book and i keep listening to podcasts ahaha。 anyways, i wasn’t a hugeee fan of this book。 although i actually do enjoy this arc because it is something new and exciting, it is getting sooo repetitive。 but hey, given the targeted age range for the book, it is great。 but i think i might DIE if there is another star-crossed lovers from different clans pair ugh

When I first began The Broken Code series, I felt like it was trying and failing to come up with something original for Warriors。 But the books have gotten better and better, and Darkness Within is the best of the series (although not as good as prior Warriors books)。The story centered around an ethical problem: Is it okay to kill a defensless cat for their evil deeds? What if killing them might also kill a good cat? What if killing them might save hundreds of good cats? This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 My one thought through the back half of this book is why didn't Shadowsight attempt to enter the Dark Forest again。 I mean I know he poisoned himself to get there, but that was the last contact any cat had with the real Bramblestar。 Wouldn't it be worth trying one more time to find out if Bramblestar got trapped again or wasn't able to make it out after Shadowsight found him the first time? I read this book earlier in the year。 I am not enjoying the newer Warriors books as much as I love the old ones。 The covers are really pretty, but the cats just get repetitive。 They have lost StarClan and I wouldn't be surprised if some cats just left and never returned。 I am going to continue on with the series because there are still some cats I care about。 I have high hops for the next one because it has a beautiful cover。 I read this book earlier in the year。 I am not enjoying the newer Warriors books as much as I love the old ones。 The covers are really pretty, but the cats just get repetitive。 They have lost StarClan and I wouldn't be surprised if some cats just left and never returned。 I am going to continue on with the series because there are still some cats I care about。 I have high hops for the next one because it has a beautiful cover。 。。。more

How come this was brushed aside? There’s a ton of characters still alive who trained in the Dark Forest—why aren’t they saying shit about how it works? And why didn’t Shadowsight try again to appear in the Dark Forest to find Bramblestar again? This just seemed like a very obvious plot point that was overlooked, maybe because the Erins really needed the Clans to be ready to kill Ashfur, but still。 It annoyed me。I am still loving the pacing in these books, and that ending!! Holy moly。 Cant wait to get my hands on the next book! And after over a year of reading this series, I will finally be caught up! 。。。more

This has been my least favourite book of the Broken Code thus far, but it wasn't terrible。 There were just quite a few good things and quite a few bad。 The drama at the end was good, but everything up until then was a little slow。 The relationship in this book felt forced, I didn't like how (view spoiler)[Bristlefrost treated Spotfur's pregnancy (hide spoiler)] and Shadowsight's chapters in this one were a little duller than usual (although I still really enjoy his relatable personality)。 Meanwh This has been my least favourite book of the Broken Code thus far, but it wasn't terrible。 There were just quite a few good things and quite a few bad。 The drama at the end was good, but everything up until then was a little slow。 The relationship in this book felt forced, I didn't like how (view spoiler)[Bristlefrost treated Spotfur's pregnancy (hide spoiler)] and Shadowsight's chapters in this one were a little duller than usual (although I still really enjoy his relatable personality)。 Meanwhile, the villain has to be one of my favourites in Warriors for a while and the travelling in this book was one of the best the Erin's have done since most people in the fandom seem to dislike travelling books。 I really like how this arc is bringing together a lot of the protagonists from older arcs; it's giving me vibes that this could be the final arc of the Warriors main series? Probably not though, since this series keeps going and going。Why have so many characters suddenly become mean though? 。。。more

I could not get through this book, it was much too frustrating for me。 I felt like all of the characters kept repeating the same things with different wording, and nothing seemed to change during the book。 I used to love reading Warriors and have read all there is to read in the series, but I can't with this one。 Sometimes it felt like things had to be spelled out, and took away some of the magic that books have。 If you are more of an advanced reader, I beg of you, don't pick this book up。 I onl I could not get through this book, it was much too frustrating for me。 I felt like all of the characters kept repeating the same things with different wording, and nothing seemed to change during the book。 I used to love reading Warriors and have read all there is to read in the series, but I can't with this one。 Sometimes it felt like things had to be spelled out, and took away some of the magic that books have。 If you are more of an advanced reader, I beg of you, don't pick this book up。 I only read this because I felt obligated to, as I have a silent pact with myself to read every book I've gotten from a library/started。 I'll probably continue to read the series for nostalgia, plus to see what happens, but I wouldn't recommend Darkness Within。 。。。more
